Class Instruction Times

The religious instruction of our youth has always centered in the liturgical life of the church.  Realizing the importance of participation by our youth in Divine Services, and responding to the spiritual needs of our youth, the children, their families and their instructors will gather in the Church for the Divine Liturgy at 10 am. As in the past, the children will sit in pews designated for the Church School , grades 1 through 12. Classroom instruction for 1 st graders will begin after the Gospel and homily, the upper grades will remain in church through Communion. Pre -K 3, 4 and K 5 classes will meet in the classroom at 10 am and be brought into church for Communion.

It has proven to be of great value for our young people and their instructors to be able to attend the majority of the Divine Liturgy.  In addition to this added time in Church, Father Lou or Father Stephen will continue to offer a brief homily after the reading of the Gospel, as a means of catechism for all of us.

Perfect Attendance Program

Saint Demetrios will recognize the efforts of those children who have achieved "perfect attendance" and "near perfect attendance."  Perfect attendance is considered to be 0 absences.  Near perfect attendance will allow for 1-5 " excused " absences.  An excused absence may include services at another church or illness, with verbal explanation from parent.  No sporting activity will be considered an excused absence. Please understand that children with special instances will be given the same recognition with consultation of the Director and Parish Priest.
